Is de-Christianization necessary if you are entering a runic egregore?

Is de-Christianization necessary if you are entering a runic egregore?
If you plan to work with runes or enter traditions associated with them (e.g., Norse Paganism/Asatru or runic magic), performing a de-Christianization ritual is not mandatory.
From the perspective of practice, esotericism, and neo-paganism itself, the choice depends on your personal philosophy and psychological comfort.
Why de-Christianization is NOT required
• The Scandinavian tradition is historically polytheistic: Ancient pagans did not demand a monopoly on faith. In the Viking Age, people could simultaneously wear Thor's hammer and a cross, and gods were perceived as allies for specific tasks.
• The egregore of runes is an instrumental and archetypal system: Runes function as a linguistic and energetic code (archetypes of nature, psychological states, laws of the world). Interacting with them does not require an obligatory renunciation of other religions or an "official exit" from them.
• Inner strength and intention: In runic practice, personal will, awareness, and contact with chosen forces play a key role, rather than formal severance rituals.
When de-Christianization may make sense
The only real reason to perform de-Christianization is psychological and mental.
• Internal conflict and fear: If you have a deep-seated fear of "sin," punishment, or guilt towards the Christian egregore, this mental block will hinder your work with runes.
• Symbolic step (psychodrama): In such a case, de-Christianization acts as a psychotherapeutic or symbolic act, helping to put an end to the past and fully shift your attention to the new tradition.
How to approach the issue correctly
Assess your internal state: If you experience fear or doubt, it is better to work through these blocks first (through meditation, theoretical study, psychoanalysis) rather than rushing into rituals.
Start with theory and ecological contact: Try studying runes, meditating on them, and experiencing their meanings. See how the practice resonates without making drastic moves.
Do not create unnecessary conflicts: Trying to "fight" with the past egregore often only drains your energy to it. The most effective way to transition to a new system is simply to direct your attention and practical focus to where you want to develop.
